One of the many stand out features of the Ludwig Jazz Fest is the twin lug tuning. Featuring separate lugs for both resonant and batter head. This provides an immense amount of control over your snare sound, delivering the ability to tune both drum heads to different tensions without affecting the other. The aesthetic of the Ludwig Jazz Fest lugs also features subtle embellishments providing a classic snare drum look. Whilst the 3-step tone control provides tone precision, enabling you to muffle snare drum tones further, dampening the drum sound to suit.
The mahogany shell is constructed from a durable 3 ply wood combination. This includes 1 ply mahogany followed by 1ply poplar and finished off with another ply of Mahogany. This construction provides a smooth mid-range with an ear-catching rich low end to add a unique vibrancy. Combined with the boosted low-end warmth of the inner poplar layer, this mix is a match made in heaven. Ludwig has also applied a white reso-coat interior to this snare, adding a subtle vintage look to the snare drum.
The Jazz Fest snare series was first introduced in 1950 with the Buddy Rich Model snare drum going on to fully take its form as the Jazz fest series in the early 1960’s as a 5.5’’ deep snare. This version of the jazz fest is one of the most iconic Ludwig snare drums lines, available in four premium finishes. These include Vintage Black oyster, Vintage Blue Oyster, Mod Orange and Black Galaxy. The Jazz Fest Series snare delivers a vintage look and sound with modern features.
